Echoes of Freedom: Charlotta Kerb’s soul cosmos

Charlotta Kerbs is a multifaceted musician whose passion for music was ignited at an early age. At just 11 years old, her world opened up to the vastness of music through her neighbor, musician Peter "Nylli" Nylund. Sitting at his kitchen table, Nylli shared his diverse taste in music with Charlotta. Together, they listened to everything from the jazz of Louis Armstrong to progressive rock bands like Yes and Genesis, as well as the iconic David Bowie. These moments deeply shaped Charlotta’s perception of music, laying the foundation for her own artistic journey.

Charlotta is an internationally acclaimed singer, songwriter, educator, and artist. She creates music as a solo performer and as a featured artist in various projects. Her work extends to composing for theater productions, including Heiman (Wasa Teater, 2022) and The Magical World of Peter Pan (London, 2023), as well as for choirs and short films.

Charlotta has performed across Europe, West Africa—collaborating with local artists in Benin (2020) and headlining the Sierra Leone Reggae Festival (2022)—as well as in the USA and India, including the Saarang World Festival in Chennai (2024).

As an educator, she offers singing lessons, workshops, and facilitates spaces for meditative singing and mantra circles, often combined with yoga practice.

In addition to her artistic endeavors, Charlotta is also an event producer. She organizes events and small festivals on her home grounds of Lufolk, Finland, including the annual Lufolk Festival.

“You can scream, shout, push limits, and be completely authentic. That is the true meaning of music for me.”

Her first public performance came at the age of 11, when she sang at a wedding—a moment that marked the beginning of her future career in music. Despite her calm nature, she discovered through music a powerful way to express herself in a way that felt both authentic and liberating. For Charlotta, music has always been a way to break boundaries and express herself fully.

"The hippie in me is still there”

Charlotta Kerbs has always walked her own path, inspired by the legendary Janis Joplin. The quote “freedom is just another word for nothing left to lose” has echoed in her soul since her youth, shaping her view on both life and music. Her first band was an acoustic hippie group, and the free, rebellious spirit from that time still lives within her today.

Charlotta lives a life that moves slightly outside of the norms and finds her freedom in not feeling bound by society's expectations.

Janis Joplin has also helped her navigate the looks and judgments often directed at female artists. Through Joplin, Charlotta has learned to stand firm in herself and her art, regardless of what others may think. Her biggest dream is for the music to reach as many people as possible.

Charlotta Kerbs is an artist who lives her truth, free from limitations, driven by a love for music and a desire to share it with as many souls as possible, in this world.
